For all that is wrong with this world.
For all that is hard about life.
For all that scars us and makes us want to hide.
And makes us want to scream.
There are simple, happy pumpkin patches.

Drippy, sticky artwork smeared to life by little hopeful hands.

Tender souls who take the time to make the small feel safe.

The breathless beauty of a changed season and traces of faithfulness in every sunset-kissed leaf.

It doesn’t erase the aches.
It doesn’t right every wrong, answer all the questions, retract the years.
It doesn’t make the way any less of a battle.
But even so …
With our knees to the ground, eyes fighting through the mist …
Our hearts can be assured …
Goodness still wins.
Joy still triumphs.
Light still pierces the darkness.
Still, there is grace to breathe in.
Still, there is praise to breathe out.
Still.
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. ~ John 16:33

Beautiful… thank you.
Thank you. Your comment encouraged me today!
This is a beautiful post. Absolutely beautiful. 🙂 There really is so much hope for the future. So many wonderful things happen each day. Thank you, Kim, for the simple, yet profound reminder that there is goodness. 🙂
I think I replied incorrectly! Please see below comment! 🙂
Hopeful! Wonderful! Lovely!
Thank you so much for the kind words. 😉
Thank you, Marla! Sometimes I get so down about what’s going on in the world and even the challenges in my own life! And yet these little joys remind me that goodness prevails. 🙂 God has still given us so much beauty to hold on to … which relates so much to your most recent post on beautifying your sphere. That has stuck with me! 🙂
This is just lovely Kim! Thank you. Goodness does prevail, and in a world of hurts, this message really offers so much hope!
Thank you for your comment! Goodness does prevail…. something to hold on to in a world of hurts. So sorry for the late reply here! 🙂
Beautiful, Kim. Such a great perspective – “Goodness still wins” – love that! Thanks for sharing. And…you’re little girl is a doll – makes me miss the preschool days.
Thank you Tiffany. 🙂 I have two older boys … 8 & 10 so I am trying to cherish these preschool days. I know one day she too will be too big to carry. Oh my heart. 😦 Yes goodness prevails … no matter how dark, God’s light can shine through. I praise Him for that!
Oh, I absolutely love this! These are the reasons I love fall. Every single one of these. With all the scariness and worry in this world, joy and goodness will triumph. Children are a sweet reminder of hope. Beautiful post, Kim!
Thank you. I love fall too. Although where we live there is less of a distinction among the seasons. But would you believe it? There is rain in the forecast today… and it’s cold! I agree children are a sweet reminder of hope. That is well said! (I really do hope you post a pic of that cactus! 🙂 I just want to say, we were a disaster today with the costumes. Last night, I was literally looking up on the internet “last minute costumes made with a pillow case.” My children will have the exact opposite memories of your children when it comes to their mommy and Halloween costumes!)
This is so lovely. I love how what seems like the tiniest thing can speak so loudly of his love and bring such joy. Beautiful.
So true, Abby! God tends to use the smallest simplest things to remind us that He is with us. I often get discouraged with all that is going on this world … and sometimes it feels like we are just fighting against the darkness every day – yet, these small reminders bring me so much hope and comfort. Thank you for commenting here. So glad I was able to find your blog too!
